This Privacy Policy explains how LoopIQ (“LoopIQ,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the LoopIQ mobile app and related services (the “Service”). Privacy is core to how the product works: other users never see your name, photos, or social accounts, and your identity is revealed only shortly before a confirmed round. By using LoopIQ, you agree to this Policy. LoopIQ is intended only for individuals 18 years of age or older.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information to provide compatibility matching and coordinate rounds:
Account & identity
- Name — used internally and revealed to a matched player only at the pre-tee-time reveal moment (see Section 3).
- Date of birth — used to confirm you are 18 or older and to support age-based matching.
- Sex — optional; used for matching only if you choose to provide and share it.
Authentication identifiers
- Sign-in credentials — when you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique account identifier (and, where you permit it, your email). If you sign in by phone, we collect your phone number and verify it with a one-time SMS code.
- Your verified phone number may also serve, with your consent, as a contact option revealed to a matched player before tee time.
Golf profile & preferences
- Handicap index or USGA/GHIN ID (optional) or a self-declared range; home course and favorite courses; pace of play, rules style, and club tier; how often you play.
- Vibe preferences such as music, drinks, and stakes during a round; your availability windows and willing-to-travel radius.
Location
- With your permission, we use your device location while the app is in use to match you with nearby players and courses. If you prefer not to share precise location, you can enter a ZIP code instead.
Social handles (optional)
- If you choose to provide Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn handles, we use associated public metadata only to refine compatibility signals. These handles are never displayed to other users.
Match, round & rating data
- Invitations you send and receive, confirmed rounds, and the private post-round ratings you give (which reflect the experience, not a golf score, and are never shown to the rated player).
Device, usage & diagnostics
- Device and app information, push-notification tokens, and app-interaction and diagnostic data (including crash and error logs) used to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
2. How we use information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.
- To compute compatibility and surface your best-matched players.
- To coordinate invitations, confirmations, and rounds, and to facilitate tee-time booking and handicap verification through our partners.
- To reveal identity and contact details to a matched player at the appropriate time (Section 3).
- To send service notifications, including changes to a round or a tee-time hold.
- To maintain safety, prevent abuse, and enforce our terms.
- To operate, analyze, secure, and improve the Service, and to comply with legal obligations.
3. Anonymity & identity reveal
LoopIQ is anonymous by default. Before a round is confirmed, other users see only an anonymous match card (handicap, pace, shared courses, distance, and a compatibility score) — never your name, photos, or social handles. Real names and any contact option you have enabled are revealed to a matched player only within a window of approximately one to two hours before tee time, and only after both players have confirmed the round.
5. Your choices & rights
- Access & correction — view and update your profile information in the app at any time.
- Account deletion — you can delete your account from in-app Settings or by emailing us; deletion removes your profile and match history as described in Section 6.
- Location — you can decline or revoke location permission in your device settings and use ZIP-code matching instead.
- Social handles — providing them is optional, and you can remove them at any time.
- Notifications — manage push notifications in your device settings.
- Regional rights — depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using Section 11.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Age requirement
LoopIQ is intended only for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it.
9. International users
LoopIQ is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date below and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
